I began my career as a Registered Nurse in home health. I cared for people in their homes as well as in assisted living. Seeing patients in almost all of the assisted living facilities in the area I felt there was something missing. Many facilities claim to treat their residents as family, however I found that quite the opposite was happening. The truth is when you have extremely high caregiver to resident ratios it is impossible to develop quality, loving relationships, let alone handle all the needs of the residents. I found a deficit and asked myself, "Why can't the elderly stay in family homes?" They can! I decided to take matters in my own hands by bringing the elderly into my own home. I purchased a home and got it licensed as an Adult Foster Home. After a few years I partnered with Brittany McPhee, who is a highly experienced CCMA and Healthcare Administrator, and expanded to multiple homes. Our vision is that when you combine assisted living with a literal family atmosphere, loving relationships develop and quality of life improves.
